PREVIEW: Jazz @ Clippers

The Utah Jazz will be back in action again, facing the Los Angeles Clippers at Arena on Sunday (11/6/2022) at 10 pm EST. The Clippers (5-4) are looking to improve their standing in the Western Conference after a slow start to the season. The Jazz (7-3) who are in surprisingly good form to start the season will be looking to improve their 3-3 record on the road after a tough 3 game road losing streak.

Injury Report LAC: Kawhi Leonard, OUT (Knee), Robert Covington, OUT (Health and Safety Protocols)

UTA: Leandro Bolmaro, OUT (Health and Safety Protocols)

The Clippers without Kawhi Leonard, who has only played 2 games so far this season, will still be a tough team to beat. But with a relatively injury free Jazz team and Lauri Markkanen (22.2 ppg) in fantastic form, the Jazz will look to win this game.

Key Players:

Clippers – Paul George:

Paul George has been fantastic to start the season, however he has had his share of poor scoring performances, shooting 5-19 against the Pelicans, 4-12 against the Thunder and the Lakers so far this season. However in the last 3 games, albeit against weak opponents, PG has been averaging 32.6 ppg (@ Rockets/@ Home v Rockets and @ Spurs). If George can keep up this momentum against the Jazz’s 12th ranked defense, whilst also defending at a high level the Clippers could easily win this game.

Jazz – Lauri Markkanen:

Lauri has been the Jazz’s best player so far this season and has really shown his value to the team, averaging 22.2 ppg so far this season, alongside 9.4 rebounds a game. However this should not be an easy offensive game for him, going against the Clippers 3rd ranked defense and Ivica Zubac who has the 3rd highest defensive rating out of centers (15+ mpg played). If Markkanen can play at the offensive level that he has played at so far this season, on top of a solid showing from the rest of the team, the Jazz can definitely win this match.

Expect this game to be fairly close, however with the Clippers last ranked offense (30th) going against the 12th ranked defense and 9th ranked offense in the Jazz, this should be a Jazz victory, as the 3rd ranked defense of the Clippers will likely not be enough, especially with good shooters in Malik Beasley, Jordan Clarkson and more.

Betting Advice: Bet against the Clippers to win, Jazz have very favourable odds for a very winable match. Risk - 6/10

Betting odds:

Clippers -5.5, Over/Under +227
