Vikings Rookie Jordan Addison Receives Traffic Violation

Early on Thursday morning, July 20, Vikings rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison was pulled over in Minnesota. The reports are that he was going 140 miles per hour in a 55 mile an hour zone. Luckily, nobody was injured, and Addison was seemingly let off with just a traffic ticket.

This is following a series of traffic tragedies the NFL has experienced over the past couple years. Last offseason, quarterback Dwayne Haskins was struck by a dump truck while trying to cross an interstate after his car had broken down.

The incident is mired in mystery as there are reports that say the quarterback was drunk at the time of his death. His family also alleges he was drugged and robbed as there was also ketamine found in Haskins’ system.

Just a few months prior, emerging Raiders’ receiver Henry Ruggs III was going 156 miles per hour when he hit a woman, killing her and her dog. Ruggs, who was drunk at the time of the accident, recently pleaded guilty to the accident and is now facing up to ten years in prison.

Back to the Vikings front, Addison wasted no time in extending his regrets and apologies to the NFL world. In a statement released by NFL Network, the rookie said “Yesterday morning I made a mistake and used poor judgement. I recognize and own that... I am going to learn from this and not repeat the behavior, I am truly sorry.”

While only time will tell if Addison is telling the truth, his haste and accountability in releasing this statement is admirable. He could have made excuses, but instead he owned up to the mistake and vowed to never do it again.

With all the tragedies the NFL world has experienced recently, it would be a shame if the receiver didn’t learn from them and his own mistakes. Hopefully, he is telling the truth, and this is just a small mistake in a long, successful career
