Toronto Maple Leafs Center Dylan Gambrell Out Indefinitely
After a concussion sustained in practice this week. Maple Leafs center Dylan Gambrell is out "indefinitely" for the season.
So what does this do to the Leafs roster?
William Nylander will take over at center, and the Leafs salary cap will clear up a bit.
Gambrell, with a now uncertain recovery timeline, had just a one-year, league minimum contract. He's likely to be waived and reassigned to the AHL's Toronto Marlies - a demotion for sure for someone with high hopes. But it seems the Leafs are happy to free up some space - and money - when it comes to players and payroll.
No doubt, times are tight financially, and patience is short.
